65 Dairy, It STILL Does a Body Good

Dr. Greg Miller is the Chief Science Officer for the National Dairy Council. I wanted to interview him because I had several questions about the health benefits of dairy, such as: Should you drink raw milk, is milk helpful for weight loss, is milk good for athletes, should a person drink whole or non-fat milk, and what about yogurt and cheese?

These questions, and more, were answered in this 30 minute interview. He is, as you can imagine, in favor of dairy products, but he gives scientific reasons why the various forms of dairy products are a low cost, high nutrition food, that most people find appealing.

Sugar is everywhere. It is hard to eat any processed foods that do not have sugar added.

But, is that a problem? People in Western civilizations are growing obese and less healthy. Is sugar to blame? Many say yes.

The sugar battle rages on. Sugar tastes good, is in "fun" foods, is adored by children and most adults. Grandparents love giving it and because of all that, the food industry puts it in everything.

Meanwhile, many parents are fighting against the sugar forces and doing everything they can to keep sugar out of their children's diet. Who will win this battle?

What can you do?

15 Dr. Loren Cordain, Paleo Diet for Athletes

One of the forefathers of the paleolithic eating philosophy, Dr. Loren Cordain began this chapter of his life as a quest to improve his own athletic performance. When he read a paper written by Dr. Boyd Eaton about the things that hunter gatherers used to eat based on availability and technology. In this paper he explained that humans have been eating in this manner, with these types of foods for thousands of years, yet we have only been eating agriculturally raised foods such as grains and dairy for about 333 generations - not very long on the evolutionary scale.
